Yesterday was Parent's Meeting of HKBUAS.

Martin and I were there around 6:10pm though the meeting with 訓導主任 was scheduled at 6:30pm. We were there earlier but Mr. Chan received us immediately.

Frankly, I was that very pleased to learn that we had to meet the 訓導主任 for it meant to me that Mike had done something wrong and therefore we had to hear from him.

Anyway, we were happy to see him as we knew him (he taught Mike two subjects - L.A. and Chinese before). The following is what Mr. Chan shared with us:-

His purpose of inviting us - 想讚紀梓烽. 他好有禮貌. 他一直仍然有主動跟陳偉藝老師. 不但面對面有主動到叫他, 有時陳老師並沒有見到他, 梓烽亦有叫他. 還有的是其他老師也覺得他有禮貌. 我告訴陳老師紀梓烽是一個重感情的人.

Importance of Friendship Building - He shared with us that his very best friends are those from primary school and also it is vital for future development. Mike should start his friendship building so that he can have different levels of friends, best friends, good friends, socal friends, etc. As friends can share frank opinions and Mike can learn from them.

Mixture of Academic & Creativity - Mr. Chan doesn't agree that children should be very obedient and strong in Academics. He further shared that those flyers of 10A in HKCEE are nothing special. Rather those who are active/naughty with creative and average in Academic can do even better. Communication is very important for our future. From what he observed, G6 is creative while G5 is academic. Being having a mix of the two, Mike has his own advantages.

The effect of impact - Children should have chances to be challenged. He told us his experience in primary school, from village to city and he had to be lowered two forms in order to catch with the schedules as there was no way that he could compete with those in the city. Then at the age of 11, his family moved to HK and it was anothe impact to him. Though he was in a Band 5 school which only 5 of them studied while the rest took drugs. He didn't get the bad influence from them at all.

PET for Schools

今日是Mike考PET for Schools的日子. 昨日星期五讓他做最後一個Test. 成績真的不錯. 其實Reading及Listening可以全對的, 但就是不小心而已, 成績分別是34/35及24/25. Writing就有待改善. 但看改評其實是可以容許犯錯errors的.

Mike做完後亦覺得有信心做得不錯. 真希望他能取得Distinction因這對他升中有幫助!

Basketball playing with Coach Boris

星期四(3/11)Mike邀請我去看打籃球. 其實之前我亦只看過他–次而已.

我一口就答應他. 好險呀! 5:18pm才發覺要離開. 立即走(連電腦也要MK替我關). 乘的士到會所, 到達時是約5:40pm.

比賽練習還未開始, Mike見不到我; 而我亦不想刻意讓他知道, 以免影响他. 到比賽了, Mike算不錯, 亦不會像其他同學常犯"重拍", "走步"等. 射球,走位也不錯. 而他的朋友Bryan帶波亦不錯呀! Mike還幫隊友入球添.

練習完畢後, Mike終於見到我, 而我又走埋去射波. 教練問我是否Mike的媽媽, 問我是否也懂得打, 我就話 "a little bit". 之後教練還主動叫我們打2對2. Mike跟Bryan一隊. Boris並沒有刻意讓他們. 最後是21(有一球是3分):2(Mike射入).

臨走時我問Coach Boris Mike 是否trouble maker. 他說是. 又話Mike是他的Assistant 幫手維持秩序及翻釋. 他說Mike跟之前的coach有問題, 跟他就沒有呢!

真高興, 因為稱讚Mike. 見Mike亦打得不錯, 心想起不如讓他參加正式之訓練.

大家也打得好開心. Mike話以為我忘掉了, 並說如果我真的忘記也不會怪我. 我亦告知Mike自己好開心被他邀請去看他打籃球.
